History and Location
Kempshott Junior School was established in 1974 as a result of the reorganisation of primary education in Basingstoke. The school was originally located on Pack Lane, but moved to its current site on Old Down Close in 1982. The school has undergone several extensions and improvements over the years, most recently in 2019 when a new library and learning zone were built.

The school is situated on a spacious and green site, with facilities such as a sports field, a playground, a sensory garden, a music room and a computer suite. The school has strong links with the local community.

Curriculum and Achievement
Kempshott Junior School follows the National Curriculum, but also offers a creative and pupil-centred curriculum that is based on real experiences and high quality literature. The school aims to provide a rich, safe and varied environment that supports learning and within which children can build on the foundations acquired at infant level. The school also provides a range of enrichment activities such as clubs, trips, sports teams and musical events.

The school has a reputation for academic excellence and pupil progress. In 2022, the school achieved above the national average in reading, writing and maths at the end of Key Stage 2. The school also achieved well in science and art. The school was rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in its latest inspection in 2018.

Support and Guidance
Kempshott Junior School is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for all pupils. The school has a team of personal tutors who meet regularly with pupils to monitor their progress, set targets and offer advice. The school also has a SENCO who coordinates the provision for pupils with special educational needs or disabilities.
