Fairfields Primary School is a community school in Basingstoke, Hampshire, England. It caters for mixed pupils aged from four to eleven, with a capacity of 420. The school is the oldest school in Basingstoke, having opened in 1887. The school is based on four core values: love, respect, honesty and celebration

History and Location
Fairfields Primary School was established in 1887 as a board school for boys and girls. The school was originally located on Fairfields Road, but moved to its current site on Council Road in 1952. The school has undergone several extensions and refurbishments over the years, most recently in 2015 when a new hall and kitchen were built.

The school is situated on a spacious and green site, with facilities such as a sports field, a playground, a sensory garden, a library, a music room and a computer suite. The school is close to the town centre and the railway station, and has strong links with the local community.

Curriculum and Achievement
Fairfields Primary School follows the National Curriculum, but also offers a creative and pupil-centred curriculum that is based on real experiences and high quality literature. The school aims to develop resilient and confident children who are highly skilled and able to adapt to an ever-changing world. The school also provides a range of enrichment activities such as clubs, trips, sports teams and musical events.

The school has a reputation for academic excellence and pupil progress. In 2022, the school achieved above the national average in reading, writing and maths at the end of Key Stage 2. The school also achieved well in phonics and science. The school was rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in its latest inspection in 2019.

Support and Guidance
Fairfields Primary School is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for all pupils. The school has a team of personal tutors who meet regularly with pupils to monitor their progress, set targets and offer advice.
