Wet Wet Wet return to The Anvil in Basingstoke on 27 February 2027 with the easy confidence of a band whose songs have lived in the bloodstream of British pop for four decades. They arrive as part of their 40th‑anniversary celebrations for Popped In Souled Out, the debut album that launched them from Clydebank onto the world stage and eventually helped them sell more than 15 million records. Their reputation was built on soulful ballads, polished songwriting and the kind of live performances that turned chart success into something more enduring.
The line‑up now features Kevin Simm on vocals, whose move from Liberty X and his win on The Voice in 2016 brought a fresh energy to the group while keeping the warmth and emotional clarity that fans expect. The Anvil’s acoustics suit their sound perfectly, giving space to the big choruses, the smooth arrangements and the nostalgia that inevitably comes with hearing songs like Goodnight Girl or Love Is All Around, the latter famously spending 15 weeks at number one.
This tour marks 40 years since Popped In Souled Out first appeared, and the band lean into that milestone with a set that blends the classics with material from later years, including work created during the lockdowns for their album The Journey. Those sessions pushed the band into new ways of writing and collaborating, yet the result still carries the soul and feel of their earliest work.
